Delicious, spicy tasting pears
Ingredients: 1 (29 oz) can undrained pear halves (in own juice op) 2 T cornstarch or (arrowroot op) 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg 1/8 tsp ground cloves 1/2 c sugar (or sucanat op) 1/4 c lemon juice 2 T unsalted butter 1/2 c toasted coconut (op)
Directions: Drain pears reserving 1 c juice.
In bowl add: 1/4 c reserved liquid, cornstarch or arrowroot, cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves. Stir until smooth and set aside.
In saucepan combine: 3/4 c pear juice, sugar, lemon juice and butter. Bring to a boil. Slowly stir in cornstarch mixture and cook over low heat constantly stirring until thick.
In 8 inch baking dish lay pears. Pour sauce over pears and sprinkle with coconut. Bake 350 degrees 15 minutes. Serve warm. Serve with ice cream op.
