Yummy pear pie
Ingredients: Pie Shell 2 c flour or (whole wheat pastry flour opt) pinch of salt 1/2 c butter cold water
Pie Filling 2/3 c sugar 3 T flour 1/2 tsp nutmeg 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 5 c peeled, sliced fresh pears 1 tsp lemon juice 1 T butter
Directions: Pie Crust: In large bowl: Sift flour and salt. With fingertips mix in butter. Mixture will look like fine bread crumbs. Add cold water to form stiff dough. Chill dough before rolling it out.
Pie Filling: In bowl add: Sugar, flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, salt and mix. Add pears and lemon juice and mix well.
Pie Crust: Divide dough in half and roll out to 1/8 inch thick. Take crust and set in bottom of pie pan. Pour pear mixture into pie pan. Dot top with butter. Lay top crust over pie filling and pinch edges of pie crust together. Slit top of pie and bake 45 minutes or until done in 425 degree oven.
